Digital Speedometer using ADNS-3080 mouse optics for electric skateboard

This was a really fun project to work on. With the help of Dr. Al Ducharme, I designed this little gadget for my final project at UCF. The main components were a ADNS-3080 optical sensor from a standard computer mouse, a lens with the correct focal distance, and a PIC 18F252. I really wanted to do something involving my late electric skateboard, because at the time we had a posse that would meet up on thursdays to ride the boards through the streets of Orlando til the wee hours of the night.
